The ideal Receiving and Distribution Coordinator for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization’s mission to provide nutritious food and grocery products to those in need in our 16-county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Distribution team distributing over 10 million pounds of food annually. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be key to success in this role.

To this end the Receiving and Distribution Coordinator will need to be capable of working as a team, as well as being a self-starter. In addition, maintaining a positive outlook will play a large role in being a motivator and encourager for the community, clients, and staff members alike.
The responsibilities of the Receiving and Distribution Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Coordinate the receipt and storage of donated product, purchased product and USDA product – 70%
· Assist with warehouse order fulfillment – 20%
· Collaborate with the Pantry to fulfill daily product needs (new orders or retrieving product from higher levels) – 10%
· Working side by side with the Receiving and Inventory Coordinator with incoming loads to ensure clear communication and accurate receipts.
· Ability to stay organized, avoid mistakes and remain calm in stressful situations.
· Utilize warehouse management software to locate items and execute necessary journal entries.
· Ability to learn and navigate numerous technology channels (email, inventory system, slack, scanners, etc.).
· Safe handling of all warehouse equipment including but not limited to pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts.
· Load and unload all types of transportation equipment (semi, straight trucks, vans, etc.).
· Execute warehouse operations including but not limited to the warehouse activity plan, retrieving agency pick-up orders and food rescue receiving.
· Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in accordance with AIB and Feeding America standards, in addition to local, state, and federal regulations.
· Greet, train and supervise volunteers as well as share the mission of the NEIFB; provide general guidance of projects; assure proper training of volunteers to include specific jobs and safety concerns. Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and appropriately placed.
· In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, NEIFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.
· Provide occasional coverage in other areas of the Food Bank as necessary in times of high need
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in an affiliated field or 2 years related experience or equivalent combination of educations and experience
· Valid Iowa Driver’s License
· Ability to be certified in ServSafe Manager Level
· Skills and experience related to database systems
· Ability to safely operate Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, and additional warehouse equipment
· Ability to work independently and with others to achieve objectives
· Ability to work in hot and cold environments, including NEIFB warehouse cooler and freezer
· Knowledge of warehouse operations, practices, procedures and standards
· Ability to follow all food safety policies required by NEIFB
· Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to perform physical labor as necessary
· Ability to work nights and weekends as required
Preferred:
· Forklift certification
· Current ServSafe Manager certification

This position operates in both a typical office environment as well as in the warehouse and requires use of a computer and other office equipment, such as phones, calculators, computer printers and copy machines and the ability to operate manual and automatic pallet jacks, pallet wrapping machines, cardboard baler, and cleaning equipment. This position also requires nights and weekends so the ability to arrange transportation is a necessity.

The position operates primarily in a clean/sort room and warehouse setting within the Food Bank. Ability to communicate in a clear speaking voice in person, before large groups and over the phone. Ability to interpret instructions and questions when asked. Ability to access transportation to travel to local events and meetings with external parties. The person in this position must be able to move pallets of food using pallet jacks, stay on their feet for up to four hours at a time, and work in the cooler and freezer. Occasionally, may be required to respond to organizational needs outside of normal working hours. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry objects up to thirty pounds.
