Every October, local school districts compete to collect food, volunteer, and raise funds for community members facing food insecurity. Last year, local students raised almost $14,000, collected 5,183 pounds of food, and contributed enough to provide over 93,900 meals!
Every year, the Student Food Drive gives students a chance to help their school, promote volunteerism and community involvement, and offer hands-on leadership experience. Students will compete in a friendly competition with neighboring school districts to collect food, collect money, collect volunteer hours, host events, and post on social media. Winners of each category will be presented a cash prize to their school district!
Participating high schools this year include: Cedar Falls, Waterloo East, Waterloo West, Janesville, Valley Lutheran, Dunkerton, Hudson, North Tama.
