Every October, local school districts compete to collect food, volunteer, and raise funds for community members facing food insecurity. Last year, local students raised over $16,000 collected 5,454 pounds of food, and contributed enough to provide over 46,000 meals!
Every year, the Student Food Drive gives students a chance to help their school, promote volunteerism and community involvement, and offer hands-on leadership experience. Students will compete in a friendly competition with neighboring school districts to collect food, money, volunteer hours, host events, and post on social media. Winners of each category will be presented a cash prize to their school district!
Participating high schools this year include: Janesville, Hudson, Waterloo West, Turkey Valley, Union, Charles City, Waterloo East, Nashua-Planfield, Cedar Falls, Valley Lutheran.
