About You

The ideal Program Services Coordinator for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization's mission to provide nutritious food and grocery product to those in need in our 16-county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Food Bank's team by providing over 8.6 million meals annually to the over 45,000 food insecure people in northeast Iowa. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be the key to success in this role, as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank continually strives to work towards closing the Meal Gap in northeast Iowa.

The ideal Program Services Coordinator must demonstrate outstanding organizational, planning, and implementation skills to optimize Food Bank processes and support the development of new opportunities for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's strategic plan. This individual will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with program partners. This individual will support capacity-building efforts with Partner Agencies. The Program Services Coordinator must have a strong sense of initiative to continually develop and contribute to the development of and relations with our partners and programs.

About The Job

The responsibilities of the Program Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and improve the Service Insights training program for agency and program partners, including onboarding new agencies, updating training materials, and managing the system used to document and track training completion and progress.
  • Collect hunger statistics from Program partners, monitor trends, and suggest best practices for greater capacity for hunger relief in communities served.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support the accuracy and consistency of the data they provide. Guide routine record updates and clean‑up efforts, offering assistance as needed. Partner with management and Program Coordinators to address questions, clarify discrepancies, and ensure shared data effectively supports program goals.
  • Fulfill data and report requests to support departmental goals and objectives, work with internal departments to identify key data elements for collection and evaluation.
  • Work in partnership with the Community Programs Manager and Programs Development Manager to assist in selecting Partner Agencies and Mobile Pantry sites in northeast Iowa to participate in Service Insights.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and program partners to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships.  
  • Develop and maintain agency communications and training materials; coordinate workshops; collaborate across departments on capacity-building initiatives; and provide administrative support to the Program Development Manager to enhance overall program effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Program Development Manager to implement and manage systems for gathering client feedback across the service area - including surveys, focus groups, and other engagement methods - and gather, document, and analyze insights to inform and improve program development.
  • Provide platform-specific user support, basic technical support to users, and deliver information to agency and program partners in a friendly and timely manner.  
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in accordance with Feeding America standards, AIB, local, state and federal regulations.  
  • Greet, train and supervise volunteers as well as share the mission of the NEIFB; provide general guidance on projects; assure proper training of volunteers to include specific jobs and safety concerns. Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and appropriately placed.
  • In instances of a federal, state, or locally declared emergency, NEIFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • 2-year degree and/or 2-4 years comparable experience in customer service, human services or project organization
  • Must be proficient in spreadsheets and intermediate knowledge in database software and word processing  
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Culturally competent, ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for Northeast Iowa Food Bank business
  • Willingness to travel (within 16-county service area) with access to viable and dependable transportation

Preferred:

  • Experience with nonprofit organizations
  • Experience with data visualization, presenting data as useful and meaningful to stakeholders
  • Creative and innovative

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
