The ideal Children’s Programs Manager for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization's mission to provide nutritious food and grocery product to those in need in our 16-county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Food Bank's leadership team by providing over 8.6 million meals annually to the over 45,000 food insecure people in northeast Iowa. As the Children’s Programs Manager, this team member must demonstrate outstanding management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills in order to optimize Food Bank processes and develop new opportunities that support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's strategic plan. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be the key to success in this role, as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank continually strives to work towards closing the Meal Gap in northeast Iowa.

The Children’s Programs Manager must have a strong sense of initiative to continually develop and improve Northeast Iowa Food Bank children’s program and relations with Food Bank partners.

The responsibilities of the Children’s Programs Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Oversee Children’s Programs, including but not limited to BackPack program, School Pantries, Kids Café and Summer Feeding, ensuring that the people and organizations benefitting from the programs are included in the design, implementation and evaluation of the programs.
· Monitor program components to ensure they comply with NEIFB policy, and state and USDA regulations. These include but are not limited to reviewing menus, verifying accurate record keeping, and completing record-keeping for meal reimbursement of Kids Café, as well as tracking food safety and program compliance of School Markets and BackPack program sites.
· Supervise and support team members, including staff, interns, and volunteers; lead onboarding and training. Elevate team members to guide them to their potential. Model teamwork and cooperation.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams on program development, training content, grant reporting, and shared initiatives. Work in collaboration with the Programs Development Manager to assist in the design of projects related to the growth and development of NEIFB programs.
· Coordinate team meetings, projects, and partnerships, focusing on continuous improvement and partner capacity-building.
· Work with internal departments to identify key data elements for collection and evaluation. Maintain accurate program statistics and assist Director of Programs and other Food bank personnel in gathering information for grant proposals and reports and other Food Bank reporting.
· Greet, train, and supervise volunteers as well as share the mission of the NEIFB; provide general guidance of projects; assure proper training of volunteers to include specific jobs and safety concerns. Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and appropriately placed.
· In instances of a federal, state, or locally declared emergency, NEIFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties
· Support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's special food and fundraising events as needed.
· Other duties as assigned to support organizational needs.
Ticket/Specifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years of related experience; supervisory experience required.
· ServeSafe Manager Certified or willing to obtain within 60 days.
· Strong verbal/written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
· Proven critical thinking, problem-solving, and training/public speaking abilities.
· Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Culturally competent with a professional, collaborative demeanor.
· Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed; must pass background check.
· Valid driver’s license, insured personal vehicle, and safe driving record required.
· Must be creative, innovative, and capable of adapting in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position operates in a typical office environment with frequent use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment, as well as within the community at events or donor meetings. Occasional nights and weekends may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Physical Demands
The position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and occasionally assist with event setup or donor-related activities. Routine travel to meetings, trainings, and community events is expected.
