We are looking for a flexible, driven individual to assist the Accounting department with daily and monthly nonprofit accounting functions. The ideal candidate should possess a positive attitude and be able to prioritize tasks that can change on a daily basis along with other projects that arise. This individual will demonstrate great attention to detail and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The Accounting intern must be organized and a self-starter.

Areas of responsibility include:
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
- Accounts receivable - preparing and posting agency checks
- Accounts payable – update vendor information, including gathering W-9’s
- Prepare and analyze financial reports
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- Scan deposit documentation for current and prior fiscal year.
- Research, create, and test approval process and workflow for bank deposits documentation and other paper-heavy processes.
- Assist with internal audit tasks as well as external audit preparation as necessary
- Utilize computer software (Ceres, Salesforce, Excel)
- Update fixed asset list and documentation of asset purchases
- Collaborate with finance department on accounting policies and best practices from research and coursework. Identify and document gaps in processes,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Specifications:
- Accounting experience in a work or classroom setting
- Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical, problem-solving abilities
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office 365 and internet, willing to learn Ceres software (Microsoft B365)
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, self-starter, results-oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with flexibility to help in other areas
- Detail-oriented with ability to multitask, set and manage priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be able to commute to facility
